SNOW IS FALLING DOWN HARD...

THIS MORNING IN MICHIGAN.  IT LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE MAYBE 4 INCHES OUT THERE ALREADY? AND THEIR BIG FLUFFY FLAKES!  DON'T THING I'LL BE GOING ANYWHERE TODAY. WONDERFUL!  I CAN STAY IN MY PAJAMAS TODAY AND WORK ON MORE PROJECTS THAT I'VE BEEN PUTTING OFF. ESPECIALLY SCRAPBOOKING. I NEED TO FINISH SEVERAL ALBUMS THAT I HAVE STACKED ON MY TABLE PLUS 2 BRACELETS AND 3 NECKLACES.  AND I NEED TO VACCUM MY HOUSE. SOMETHING I'VE BEEN PUTTING OFF FOR TWO WEEKS NOW. OH BOY. NOT GOOD.

More additions to my jewelry

More creativity to share

The piece above is a new metal chain with 3 updated flowers. The key is from Suzanne Kazmer. I've added a piece from an old rosary, and the pearl accent is from a vintage collection which I purchased from a flea market.
All of the accents on the metal chain are either vintage or handmade by myself.  The chain is the only updated material used. I am especially proud of this piece.

MY JEWELRY LINE

I WAS ALWAYS INSPIRED BY MY GRANDMOTHER AND MOTHER AS A YOUNG CHILD SHE WOULD OPEN UP HER JEWELRY BOX AND SHOW ME HER BITS AND BAUBLES AND LET ME TRY THEM ON. SHE WORE CRYSTALS AND PEARLS AND ALWAYS LOOKED SO DOLLED UP WITH THEM ON. SHE SPARKLED WHEN SHE WALKED INTO A ROOM. I REMEMBER AT THE AGE OF OF 25, I BOUGHT A NEW DRESS FROM HUDSON'S DEPARTMENT STORE FOR A FORMAL CHRISTMAS PARTY AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO MY GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE TO GET HER OPINION. SHE PULLED OUT THIS BEAUTIFUL LAGUNA CRYSTAL BRACELET AND SAID THIS PIECE WOULD GO WELL WITH THE BLACK VELVET AND LACE DRESS. SURE ENOUGH IT DID. SHE TOLD ME IT WAS MINE AND THAT WAS ALL I WORE WITH THE DRESS. IT LOOKED SIMPLE YET STUNNING. I STILL HAVE THAT DRESS HANGING GRACEFULLY IN MY CLOSET UNDER A GARMENT BAG. THAT DRESS REMINDS ME OF MY GRANDMOTHER AND OUR PRECIOUS TIME TOGETHER AT THAT MOMENT. SHE WAS MY BEST FRIEND. ONE OF THE GREATEST PEOPLE IN MY LIFE THAT EVER LIVED. ALTHOUGH SHE IS GONE, HER MEMORY LIVES VIVIDLY IN MY MIND AND HEART. I WILL ALWAYS CHERISH THOSE SPECIAL MOMENTS WITH HER, AND THERE WERE MANY! MY MOTHER ALSO HAD AN OLD VINTAGE JEWELRY BOX LOADED WITH NEAT LITTLE THINGS TO WEAR. I USED TO OPEN UP HER JEWELRY BOX AND GO THROUGH EVERY LITTLE NOOK AND CRANNY AND ADMIRE ALL HER PIECES. I WOULD TRY THEM ON AND IMAGINE MYSELF DRESSED UP LIKE A PRINCESS. SHE NEVER MINDED.  THE PIECES WEREN'T EXPENSIVE,  BUT WERE SO DELICATE, SHINY AND ORNATE. BOTH MY MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO ME. SO... I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT NAMING MY LINE OF HAND MADE JEWELRY. SINCE I INCORPORATE ANTIQUE AND OLD JEWELRY PARTS INTO MY CREATIONS, I'VE CONSIDERED USING "FINDS IN GRANDMA'S ATTIC." BUT NOT SURE IF ITS CATCHY ENOUGH.   WHAT NAME DO YOU THINK I SHOULD USE? I WILL BE TAKING SUGGESTIONS AND IF ANYONE CAN COME UP WITH A CATCHY NAME THAT I CHOOSE, THEN I WILL SEND THEM A FREE GIFT FROM MY LINE. JUST CREATE A COMMENT ON THIS POST WITH A CATCHY NAME  BY MONDAY AFTERNOON (JANUARY 17, 2010) AND MONDAY NIGHT AND THEN I WILL ANNOUNCE THE WINNER!

CATALINA ISLAND

Just off the coast of southern California lies a picturesque island oasis, a mere boat ride away - Catalina Island. This iconic destination -longtime home to the Chicago Cubs training grounds - was largely developed in the 1920's by William Wrigley, Jr., and soon became the premier getaway for many Hollywood heyday stars and starlets, such as Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable and Duke Ellington. To this day, Catalina's dramatic beauty and small beach town feel attract visitors from across the globe. Known as the "Island of Romance" for decades, Catalina offers an accessible Shangri-la for couples wanting to get away from it all and revel in each other's company. As well, the breathtaking and diverse getaway has enormous appeal for families, girlfriends looking to get away, and the traveler desiring a luxurious vacation. Boasting everything from a golf course, to Buffalo Safaris, to paddleboarding, there is never a shortage of entertainment to suit any taste. In the summer of 2010, Catalina underwent a renaissance, unveiling the new Pavilion Hotel, Avalon Grille, remodeled Descanso Beach Club, plus an exhilarating Zip Line Eco Tour and the high-tech GPS Walking Tour. In addition, Catalina's most-recognized landmark, the 1929 Casino (which actually means "gathering place" in Italian), underwent exterior restoration. This regal building is perched overlooking the Catalina harbor, and features a spectacular ballroom plus stunning 1,200-person art deco theatre, which have both served for generations as the venues of choice for great entertainers, Broadway shows and first-run movies. Originally constructed to screen silent films, the theatre's astounding acoustics are attributed to Wrigley's incredible foresight that movies with sound were just around the corner. One of only a handful remaining in the world, a grandiose, original pipe organ is still showcased, used to this day when occasion permits. A modern tribute to the Island's recent elevated island experience is the new beachside Pavilion Hotel, at which a multitude of amenities are offered, such as semi-private lanais; Blu-Ray players, movies and iPads for guest check-out; daily deluxe continental breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese reception; flat-screen HDTVs; and free wireless internet, to name just a few. Innovative creation of the "Unlimited Package" offers guests staggering savings on lodging and a multitude of tours and activities also. Looking towards spring of 2011, the exciting new Sea Trek Undersea Adventure will launch, allowing visitors to take a remarkable walk along the sea floor, exploring the abundant kelp forests and marine life without needing any prior diving instruction. With an idyllic mesh of the old and the new, Catalina embraces its noteworthy history while celebrating its many recent and continued enhancements, which will further the island's appeal for years to come. Keep checking www.visitcatalinaisland.com for more information.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS LITTLE ISLAND FULL OF HISTORY AND QUAINTNESS. MY DAUGHTERS AND I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT HERE LAST AUGUST WHILE VACATIONING IN HUNTINGTON BEACH. WE ZIP LINED, SCUBA DIVED, AND RENTED A GOLF CART AND TRAVELED THE ISLAND TO SIGHT SEE.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011!!

I just love blogging and enjoy reading others blogs that have the same interest as myself. I find inspiration and fresh new ideas that help me to deepen my creativity.  So for 2011, my main goal is to inspire others with my creative projects, post tutorials and new ideas for altered projects. My second main goal is to continue to lose weight and tone my mind, body and soul.
My wish for all my readers is a healthy, happy and prosperous 2011!
